Reflections - Hiking Club 2

Before the Activity:

Our second Hiking Club hike will be to a very famous and well-known mountain near our city called Pagasarri. This mountain is very popular and large masses of people go during the weekend to this mountain. The sights from Pagasarri are incredible and I am sure it will be a very interesting hike and a beautiful one too, as the weather will be in our favor. This will not be the first time I have gone to Pagasarri. With my familly I have hiked up to the top of this 700 m mountain (not very tall but very steep) around 3 or 4 times so I am experienced on what is waiting for me. It is a tough physical task and will sure be a challenge for myself and other members of the Hiking Club, Last time in Serantes we had a difficult time with the last steep climb. In this mountain, the whole hike will be a steep climb so staying motivated will be the number one priority.

During the Activity:

The Hiking Club separated into two different groups when part of it, (including myself) seeing the other part was hiking far too slow we marched forward without them. The problem was that when you are hiking it is important to walk at your own, comfortable pace and for some member of our club this pace is a fast one. For example, I am a very tall person and it is diffuclt to me not to walk quickly. If I have to keep on waiting for some members I have to do an extra effort and taking into account the hike is long and hard, it really impacts me and makes me be far more tired than what I should. This raised several issues and discussions within the group. However, once we reached the top they all disappeared and we focused on enjoying the wonderful sights.

After the Activity:

It's been worth. This hike will be memorable and even though we had to overcome several obstacles; phyisical and psycological, we were fine and had a great time. Nevertheless my mates and I think that for the near future it would be better to climb smaller mountains or not so steep ones... Maybe we went on for a too tough mountain and should go progressively increasing in the difficulty of the hikes instead.
